The Maryland Marlins All-Stars opened their gym doors in 2002 after starting with one 12-member youth team a couple years prior. No one would have predicted the growth in numbers and talent that soon followed! Tsunami, Senior Level 5, first went to Worlds in 2009 on their first earned bid. After placing 15th out of almost 70 teams, they went on to place 5th in 2010 and 4th in 2011 in the Large Senior division. They will always be remembered as the team that competed and hit their routine 4 times during Worlds 2011 when the lights went out in the Milk House Day 1 and Brea Curley's injury Day 2. Owner and Coach, Terri Curley, builds the program around being extremely competitive with the small gym feel of relationships that last a lifetime. Coaches, Juba Ra-Akbar and MyKel Jones, not only add to her philosophy but each bring special additional talents to the team and program. The team and entire program continues to improve in every category each year and 2011-2012 promises to be another year to remember! |
